Sad changes

After much consideration and conversation we’ve decided not to attend the Desiring God National Conference. It’s too late to refund our tickets, but if we went we’d have to pay more than double the ticket cost for hotel stays and gas. Combine that with all the transitioning that will be going on and a few hesitations I have about the conference, we’ve decided to stay home.

    I had initially wanted to go, too. Finances played a part, and I’m not 100% sure about the speakers.

    I am really disappointed that I won’t be able to hear Piper and some others, but I confess to being a bit worried that some parts of the conference might turn into a discussion of why it’s okay for Christians to talk dirty. That would not be worth all the money we would have to spend.

    Granted the conference hasn’t happened yet and it may well not go that direction, but the possibility was a factor in our decision.
