Switched to another webhost, everything should be in place. Please let me know if anything looks odder than usual.
Those of you who subscribed via email, that will need to be set up again.
Update:
My sidebar links failed to import properly. I’ll get them back up in the not too distant future.

Somewhere along the way my website decided to oppose itself. I have a “Subscribe to feed” link at the top that sends a user to my feed via Feedburner but I also have an RSS feed defined in the code that had been pointing visitors to the local RSS feed.
I would prefer people subscribe to my blog through Feedburner. The main reason for this is to make things more flexible if I ever decide to change blogging software. Another reason is it helps give me some idea of how many people are reading this site.
So, if you subscribe to my RSS feed please make sure it is through Feedburner.

I still don’t really understand Twitter but I’m on it anyway. Don’t worry, you are not likely to ever know when I’m brushing my teeth or what I ate for breakfast.

My church is on Twitter as well, @ImmanuelChurch

Congratulations to the six people who responded to my book giveaway. I had said I would give away five copies but since there were just six to enter and I have more than that I can give away I’ll go ahead and send you each a copy.
Watch for an email from me asking for your mailing address. If you don’t get the email please contact me.

Taking advantage of the special offer from Desiring God, I’ve just ordered 216 copies of John Piper’s devotional book 50 Reasons Why Jesus Came to Die. We will be giving out these books at our church but I thought I’d offer a few copies on here as well.
The description of the book reads:
John Piper has gathered from the New Testament fifty reasons behind the crucifixion of the Christ. Not fifty causes, but fifty purposes—in answer to the most important question facing us in the twenty-first century: Why did Jesus suffer and die?
I am giving away 5 copies of the book. If you would like a copy, the requirement is simple: add a comment to this entry and in your comment give a sentence or two telling why the death of Jesus is so precious and necessary. I will draw names from these comments. Be sure and fill in your email address when you add your comment, the address won’t be posted but it will ensure I can get in touch with you if you win.
Now, I don’t even think I have five readers of this blog, so the chances of getting a copy are pretty good. If you know someone else who might like a copy of the book, spread the word to them.
Update:
Okay, okay, this is my first giveaway – cut me some slack. I forgot to mention when the giveaway will end. I’ll draw names on Good Friday, April 10th.
Also, if you’re a member at Immanuel you don’t have to enter, you’ll get a free copy anyway.

Along with my theme update I have (finally!) added back links to the blogs I like to read. See them in the sidebar under Good Reading. If you know of anything I should be reading feel free to let me know in the comments.

I’ve just uploaded a new theme for this blog. Let me know what you think! Do you see anything quirky that needs adjusting? Any suggestions?

Just letting you guys know that Immanuel Baptist Church now has a website. Announcements, brief weekly devotionals, and new sermons can be found on there.

This is just a note to let you guys know I’m still alive and kicking. A little while back I said that I would not be closing the blog as I moved into full-time pastoral service. But now it has been almost a month since I’ve written anything. My neglect has not been intentional, I’ve just been busy. Hopefully as I continue to adjust to my schedule I will again be able to make time for some blogging.
I am working with my church to get a church website up. Once that is done there will be a place for people to find my sermons and such as well as a brief devotional that goes with our weekly mailouts. The work for all of that will probably take a little while, however, so I don’t know when all of that will be available.
